Essen, November 28, 2017. The energy service provider, ista, has moved into its new company headquarters. The international firm is therefore highlighting its change into a modern digital service provider. Numerous guests from politics and industry attended today's inaugural ceremony for the new build, which was planned by KÖLBL KRUSE.

"Our new building is a clear commitment to North Rhine-Westphalia and to the business location Essen," said Thomas Zinnöcker, ista's CEO, in the presence of Ina Scharrenbach, Minister for Home and Municipal Affairs, Construction and Equality of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen as well as Stephan Kölbl and Dr Marcus Kruse from KÖLBL KRUSE at today's opening ceremony. "The new build highlights ista's successful change into a digital and innovative service company. We are looking forward to continuing to develop optimal solutions for our customers from the real estate industry in this modern and innovative working atmosphere," Zinnöcker continued. A total of 470 employees will be working in the new company headquarters, which has a floor area of almost 12,000 m², from where the business operations of the energy service provider in 24 countries throughout the world will be managed. The new six-storey building was built according to plans of the Hamburg architects' office, BN ARCHITEKTEN borchardt.nentwig. HOCHTIEF Infrastructure was responsible for the construction work as the general contractor.

Minister Ina Scharrenbach said: "The new ista company headquarters strengthens Essen as a services location. The new company head office in the new build, Silberkuhlsturm, also reflects the development of the city of Essen: innovation and strength on the basis of a strong historical foundation. ista is the world leader when it comes to greater energy efficiency in buildings. The company is therefore following the same plans as the government coalition in North Rhine-Westphalia. We need energy-efficient modernisation to ultimately achieve the climate protection goals."

"In ista, we have a partner at our side that is committed to Essen as a business location," Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen said. "I am therefore very pleased that the international energy service provider, ista, has moved its company headquarters from Grugaplatz into the Silberkuhlsturm. As one of the world's leading companies in the improvement of energy efficiency in buildings, ista is another important 'heavyweight' in our Grugacarree."

High concentration of company headquarters in Essen's Grugacarree

ista's move to the Grugacarree is creating one of the densest concentrations of company headquarters in Germany. In addition to the head offices of E.ON and Brenntag, Hochtief and Atos Origin are also located in the direct vicinity. This plot of land, roughly 12.4 hectares in size, is an attractive city district with an urban quality of life in a successful mix of living, working and relaxing. Situated in the Essen district of Rüttenscheid opposite Messe Essen, it offers optimal transport links thanks to its proximity to the A52 motorway and Essen's underground railway System.

"The Silberkuhlsturm fills the last construction gap in the Grugacarree. Within a very short time, an internationally significant energy location has been created on the former site of the Gruga stadium and festival gardens," explains Stephan Kölbl, managing partner of KÖLBL KRUSE GmbH. "We are proud of being involved in this development with a total of two building projects," adds Dr Marcus Kruse, also a managing partner at KÖLBL KRUSE.
